Directions to Gilpin Mill from the M6 South

 

Leave the M6 at Junction 36 and turn left, taking the A590/A591 (the Kendal by-pass) to the first roundabout. Take the B5284, the first exit, to Crook and Hawkshead via ferry. 
 

In the village of Crook pass the Sun Inn on your right hand side and travel for a further 3/4 of a mile up the hill before turning left at Crook Church on to a single track lane. At the first fingerpost take the right turn to Winster, 50yds later take the next fingerpost to Winster.
 

As you turn you will see the house directly in front of you down on the beck. Follow the lane over the bridge and turn immediately left into Gilpin Mill.

Directions to Gilpin Mill from the M6 North

Leave the M6 at Junction 39 and follow the A6 to Kendal. Take signs for Windermere and at the big roundabout above Kendal take the B5284, the second exit, to Crook and Hawkshead via ferry.

Directions to Gilpin Mill from Bowness-on-Windermere

 

Travel East along the B5284 towards Kendal. Turn right down the lane directly opposite the Wild Boar Hotel. Go up the hill for half a mile and take the left turn when almost at the brow of the hill. Travel down the single track lane, bearing left where the lane splits, past Bateman Fold on the left and down to Gilpin Mill at the bottom.
